Hello Eagle Nation!
We hope everyone is excited for our first game of the 2023 season this weekend. We want to reiterate that under no circumstances should any parent be on the sidelines during practice or a scrimmage.  Let your coaches manage their team.  This includes the track at any field we play at.  Only players and coaches should be on the track. If your volunteer spot requires you to be on the field, you may be there for only the time slot you signed up for.  There is a lot going on down there.  Not only do we not want anyone being accidentally tackled, we also want to make sure players are focused on the play in front of them.

24 Hour Rule
Youth sports can be an emotional experience. The physical activity of the kids can often spill onto the sidelines and into the stands and create strong reactions in coaches and parents. Each year 2.5 million people volunteer their time to help coach youth sports. These coaches are just one vehicle that provide organized youth athletics an existence. As parents, we will not always agree with a coach’s decision. However, it is important to recognize that the coach’s role is to make decisions for the team first and a player second. Also, we need to understand that most players are not aware of any problem until we, as parents, bring it to their attention. For parents, it is important to separate their child’s sports development from game time emotions. For this reason, we adopted the “24 HOUR RULE” which simply states, that coaches will not discuss a game, or situation in a game, until at least 24 hours after the fact. Parents/guardians are not allowed to confront a coach, team, player, board member, or league official to discuss any “negative” game or practice situation(s) with the coaching and Board of Directors until at least 24 hours has passed from the completion of the game or practice.

Homecoming
Homecoming is typically a celebration to kick-off the season, filled with Eagle Spirit and fun activities for all.
This years theme is Hawaiian. The date for 2023 is September 16, 2023.
To provide you with more details on what to expect, below is a list of what has been done in past Homecomings.
Floats: In the past, teams and their families have made themed floats to ride around in during half-time.  Look for information from your Team Mom's on this aspect.  We will need lots of parent help to pull this off.  Posters: Parents are also encouraged to make a poster for their player or cheerleader to hang on the fence that day. Some families choose to make homemade posters with the player’s picture, squad, jersey number and whatever extra decorations that you'd like to add. Other families choose to have posters made at Costco or other photo processing centers. Have fun with it but no need to break the bank.
We need convertibles!  It is tradition the exiting 8th graders ride in convertibles/ jeeps/ broncos during the parade.  If you have a vehicle that fits the bill and are able to help us please contact your Team Mom.  All trucks, floats and convertibles need to be on the track by 8:00 am. The first parade around the track will be after the Flag Football game.  All convertibles, trucks and floats need to go around during each parade.  Subsequent parades will be held during half-time of each game.  The ceremony for 8th graders will be held before the JV game.

Eagles Nest
Join us for Eagles Nest after practice on Friday.  The concession stand will be open selling pizza and drinks.  The directors and coaches will share important information for the week ahead and the cheerleaders will entertain us.  We are always looking for donations of Gatorade, baked goods etc to sell during Eagles Nest.  All the money we make goes to help fund various expenses that pop up throughout the year like field lighting come fall, painting the lines on our practice field and special events.  Donations will be accepted at the POD anytime.

Lawn Yard Signs
If you ordered a yard sign they should be available for pick up at the POD Friday.

Physicals
If you have not loaded your child’s physical into Sports Engine you must do so before the first game.  You can download the MHSAA Sports Physical form via google.  If you need step by step instructions to upload a physical visit the “Parents” tab on the Livonia Eagles website and under documents view the “Player Document Upload Instructions”.
