Reminder that this weeks away games held at Redford, are on an hour delay from our regular schedule.  

Sports Engine
Anything you post on the chat feature in SE goes out to anyone who is a member of your team.  In some cases that is over 60 people.  Not everyone needs to know your child will miss practice and why.  Not only are you creating a notification on every members phone but some things should just be kept private.  To report absences in SE please use the message feature and message your coach directly.  

Code of Conduct/ 24 Hour Rule
Upon registration everyone who participates in LJAL must sign and agree to our Code of Conduct.  Specifically within that document you agreed to:

• I will utilize the “chain of command” in addressing any and all coaching issues, negative or positive, by first discussing the issue with the head coach, and then, if need be, with a director for my Unit. In doing so, I also agree to adhere to the “24-hour” rule, wherein I will wait 24 hours before addressing any issues with my child’s head coach. I further agree that I will direct all comments or criticisms directed to any coach, parent, referee/game official, or league official away from and outside the presence of any LJAL player/participant

This code of conduct applies to all players and parents in addition to you are responsible and will be held liable for any spectator you host.  Failure to do so could result in immediate dismissal from team, lost registration fees from other sports as well as void future participation in any LJAL Youth Programs. 

Down Syndrome Awareness Game
On October 1st, we are playing the Livonia Orioles (they are the home team), and they have invited us to join in on their Down Syndrome awareness game. They have a cheerleader with down syndrome and want to bring awareness and participate in Down Syndrome awareness month. This is a fundraising game and proceeds will go to 2 different organizations here in Michigan. 

We have decided to participate with them and we will be providing the girls with bows to wear for the game. The Orioles have also provided us with a shirt order form that is open and available to everyone (girls and parents/family).  Orders are due September 9th. Shirts for the cheerleaders are $10 each and  $15 each for family members who would like to purchase as well. Orders and money can be turned in to either Heather or Miranda.  It would be so great to show that the Eagles give their support for this awesome cheerleader and others born with Down Syndrome. 

YETI Cooler Raffle
This season we will be conducting a season long raffle to win a Yeti cooler full of adult beverages and accessories.  We will be selling tickets through out the season at home games, Eagles Nests etc. beginning Homecoming Weekend.  The raffle will be held at the end of the year banquet. 

As a unit, we only receive a portion of what we collect in registration each year to operate on.  The league takes over half of our registration fees to pay for insurance, field leases and maintenance.  That leaves us to cover the costs of helmet replacement once helmets reach end of life, helmet sensor reconditioning each year, uniform and pad replacement.  On the Cheer side we need to order uniforms in different sizes because our current inventory does not cover the participants needs and competition bows have come out of our Directors pockets in recent years.  

So to help us raise some money for some pretty big expenses coming up, we are looking for donations to fill the cooler.  Bottles of wine, alcohol, beer, glasses, gift cards and accessories, etc.  Anything you can donate we will gladly accept.  There will be a bin at the POD everyday during practice to drop your donations off in.  If you have any question please contact Celestina ([email protected]) or any Director. 

We will also be participating in change wars at the concession stand.  Football v. Cheer.  All change collected goes to offsetting the cost of the item listed on the bins. 

Lawn Signs
Monday 8/29 is the last day to order a yard sign! If you are interested in purchasing a Livonia Eagles Football or Cheer yard sign, please complete the following google form.  If paying via Venmo, please pay using the "between friends" feature.  We have had several individuals select the business option.  We are NOT a business.  We are a non-profit.

Picture Day
Date changed to 9/7/22.  ALL PARTICIPANTS NEED TO HAVE THEIR PICTURE TAKEN!!!!  Even if you are not buying a package, your cheerleader/ player needs their photo taken for the yearbook.

Because picture day is close to Homecoming/ Family Day we can not confirm that you will have your photo's back in time to use for your banners.  Please be thinking about alternative options.  Ask your team photographer to take a photo of your child for you or download a game photo from our yearbook Shutterfly account.  In some cases if you are using an online resource to have your banner made you will need to account for shipping time.  In the past we have used Overnight Signs & Banner on 5 Mile in Livonia as well as stickerbanners.com, vistaprint.com., and Pro Design Graphics.
