Game 6 Recap

Garden City was the location for the Eagles latest road trip. While the Eagle Cheerleading squads incited, exhilarated and enlivened the raucous Eagle crowds, the players took to the field to show their football prowess. Interesting side note: Saturday was Garden City’s homecoming day, which typically brings out the best crowds for any team. Well, not to be out done, the Eagle boosters were there in large numbers and at times looked to have more fans in the stands than the home team. Well done Eagle Nation!!!

The Eagle’s flag team fell to the Cougars in a close contest 27-18.

The Freshman Eagles continued their winning ways by boosting their winning streak to five wins in a row with a 38-25 victory. With two games remaining in the regular season, victories over the Farmington Rockets and cross-town rival Livonia Blue Jays would guarantee first place in the South Division AND crown the Eagles as city champs as they head into the WLJFL playoffs and begin their quest for the Freshman Super Bowl Championship!

They say streaks were meant to be broken. New York Yankee slugger Joe DiMaggio was finally held hitless on July 17, 1941 after 56 games. The New England Patriots lost Super Bowl XLII (that’s 42 for those who are not familiar with Roman Numerals) after winning 18 straight. Well, the JV Eagles blew their losing streak away in convincing fashion on Saturday by crushing the Garden City Cougars 26-7 on their home turf. The victory marks the JV squad’s first win of the 2017 season. The Eagles have seriously turned their fortunes around by working hard through practice and it is showing up in their games and on the scoreboard.

The Varsity Eagles returned to their winning ways this past Saturday after a brief hiatus from the win column. The Eagles outgunned the Garden City Cougars 38-14. The Eagles got some much needed help with the return of several injured players to their roster. They look to stay healthy and work harder than ever to improve as the Eagles march this week onto Farmington.

Join Eagle Nation as they “Rocket” off to Farmington for a Sunday October 8th showdown with division rival, the Farmington Rockets.
